It’s about a year since we’ve opened our online store ( http://store.kokusaika.jp/global/ ) mainly for study/testing purpose. The store was born with multilingual and multi-currency with PayPal. We’ve paid no attention to the prices we’ve put on the Web since then. Because the orders we’ve got from the Web were all paid in Yen even for foreign firms through Japanese subsidiary.
This week we’ve got an order from our global online store and the customer immediately paid with PayPal. So cool! It’s very easy and speedy. We’ve received the notification email from PayPal that the payment for the order was done in USD (US dollars) already in our account. Amazing! We’re excited.
Then later I opened our PayPal account and found that we’re not alone in the global economy.
The amount of money transferred to our account in Yen was much lower than the price of the product we’re selling in Japan. Oh no! PayPal’s service charge is about 3%. It’s reasonable. The cause of the difference is STRONG YEN. We understand that we’ve been doing unintentional discount sale for a while. Continue reading Unintentional discount sale

As in the information page of our website, Kokusaika JP has been registered to the Joomla! resource directory in July. Since then we’ve been receiving quotation requests from abroad for Joomla! multilingual websites.
This week we responded to a request from a retail shop with non-discount Japanese price for their full site renewal from an old-fashioned flash everywhere and search engine unfriendly site to a simple and effective Joomla! multilingual website.
Their response was very quick! Over-priced. No way. Our price was 8 times higher than others. Hah Hah. Our price set was intentional considering various risks. However, other quotes seem too low. No Japanese verndors can compete with them. This trend is obvious in web business. We need to consider seriously how to do our global business. It’s certainly a tough challenge.
