It’s about a year since we’ve opened our online store ( http://store.kokusaika.jp/global/ ) mainly for study/testing purpose. The store was born with multilingual and multi-currency with PayPal. We’ve paid no attention to the prices we’ve put on the Web since then. Because the orders we’ve got from the Web were all paid in Yen even for foreign firms through Japanese subsidiary.
This week we’ve got an order from our global online store and the customer immediately paid with PayPal. So cool! It’s very easy and speedy. We’ve received the notification email from PayPal that the payment for the order was done in USD (US dollars) already in our account. Amazing! We’re excited.
Then later I opened our PayPal account and found that we’re not alone in the global economy.
The amount of money transferred to our account in Yen was much lower than the price of the product we’re selling in Japan. Oh no! PayPal’s service charge is about 3%. It’s reasonable.
